Beckett Blog had a story today about Tiger Woods being included in Upper Deck’s autographed mini cards in the 2008-09 NHL Champ’s product. Upper Deck announced that there are four different variations to be found.

NHL All Star Weekend with Upper Deck
I’ve recently started watching Hockey again. The healing process of the strike and the fact that just because Bruins management is cheap doesn’t hurt so much now that there is a salary cap has brought me back. I got the following images in from Chris Carlin from Upper Deck’s weekend at the NHL All Star Game and I have to say they are incredible looking cards.
Champs Mini’s Revealed
Upper Deck has sent us a few articles today that we will be posting through the night and I have to say that Hockey really has some amazing looking cards. Chris Carlin sent over a huge amount of images from the 2008-2009 Champs set that features the first autographed mini cards from Upper Deck in Hockey.
A Piece of History to be Updated in 2009!
We were lucky enough to have Chris Carlin from Upper Deck on The Card Podcast today. Click here to listen to his appearance! In his apperance we got the news that there will be two additions to the super popular A Piece of History 500 Home Run Club set. The first would be Manny Ramirez in a Boston Red Sox uniform, the team he hit his milestone home run for in Baltimore. But the second should be very interesting to see released. Click here for more!
It is the first ever 600 Home Run Club card, since he has been the face of Upper Deck since they first released back in 1989, they are releasing a 600 Home Run Club card of Ken Griffey Junior. So this should be a huge year for those rabid Griffey fans out there, there are 89 buyback rookies inscribed 20 years, plus we also had the exclusive announcement that Upper Deck will be inserting some buyback unsigned Ken Griffey Jr. rookies in to their 2009 set.
The final new piece of news coming out of our interview was about the 20th Anniversary set from Upper Deck. It will be a 2500 card set akin to the Yankee Stadium Legacy set last year. Listen to the podcast for all the details on this product!
Upper Deck’s Biography of a Season Returns
Collectors can receive FREE 2008-09 NHL Upper Deck Biography of a Season cards with purchase through Diamond Dealer shops
North Las Vegas, NV (November 26, 2008) – Upper Deck is proud to announce the return of the Biography of a Season program for the 2008-09 NHL season. Each week collectors can visit Upper Deck Diamond Dealer locations to receive the latest addition to the set with purchase of Upper Deck NHL cards. There will be a new card available each week throughout the course of the season and there will be thirty total cards in the set upon completion.
The content for Upper Deck’s Biography of a Season set will be determined throughout the course of the season based on what is happening in the NHL. The set begins with some moments from last season with Alexander Ovechkin breaking the NHL single season record for goals by a Left Wing, Detroit winning the Stanley Cup and then on to Steven Stamkos becoming the first pick selected in the 2008 NHL draft. As new events happen in the NHL, collectors can capture those moments with the Biography of a Season set.
“The Biography of a Season program is a great way for us to help drive hockey fans to hobby shops that carry Upper Deck products,” said Chris Carlin, Upper Deck hobby marketing manager. “After debuting some of these cards at the NHL Fall Expo in Toronto recently, collectors seemed very excited to find the set was returning this year. The last time we ran this promotion, cards were only available in key NHL markets, but given the increased demand for NHL trading cards, we will run this program through all of our Upper Deck Diamond Dealers in the U.S. and Canada.”
In December collectors can find four new cards with early season moments like the NHL Opening Games in Prague and Stockholm, the Montreal Canadiens 100th Season Home Opener and rookie sensation Fabian Brunnstrom recording a Hat Trick in his NHL debut.
