Topps Five Star to include Player Sketches

Topps has announced that the first NFL player sketch cards will be in Topps Five Star Football. This is an interesting innovation from Topps that we have previously seen in WWE Products.

NFL PLAYERS SHOW OFF THEIR ARTISTIC SIDE IN FIVE STAR

Topps announces it will be adding its popular player sketch-cards as additional hits to the highly-anticipated Five Star Football. Several gridiron stars have added their artistic skills including Tony Romo (image attached), Reggie Wayne, Vincent Jackson, LaDainian Tomlinson, Maurice Jones-Drew, Roddy White, Matthew Stafford, C.J. Spiller, Matt Ryan, Mike Williams, Tim Tebow, Aaron Hernandez and many more.

Each original 1 of 1 drawing features the artist/player’s signature on the card’s back.

The hobby exclusive Topps Five Star Football hits stores late February.

TOPPS CREATES EXCLUSIVE CARDS FOR UNDER ARMOuR ALL-AMERICAN FOOTBALL GAME

The first 5000 fans attending the 4th Annual Under Armour All-American Football Game ( January 5th – Tropicana Field, St. Petersburg, FL), will receive 3 exclusive Topps cards featuring a 2011 All-American. There are 92 different cards in all.

Topps, the official trading card of the Under Armour All-American Football game, photographed the players on Friday and on Monday they were each presented with personal copies of their card. In addition, Topps had each player sign cards which will be shelved and used at a later date. (image attached)

One of the biggest hits in the 2010 Football world is ending tonight on ebay. The Topps Chrome Superfractor of Tim Tebow will end tonight, this should be interesting with Upper Deck out of the game, and potentially more of a spotlight being shone on Topps cards, how high can this go? The seller did not do themselves any favors by labeling it a “Gold Refractor Auto” But still with the following that Tebow has, this should still be a very nice sale.

The Man to Change The Football Card Market

The NBA card market was given a shot of life and mainstream attention due to the fact that Kobe Bryant was the spokesman for Panini’s Basketball line. We had a Superstar athlete on Youtube promoting the product, we saw Kobe open a box of cards on YouTube, and Panini even got him to sign a better autograph for products. Well I’d love to see the same thing done in football, but we need a player that sticks out, is marketed everywhere, and has an electric personality. So Peyton Manning is out due to personality, so who is there? Brady doesn’t do anything off the field since his wife makes bank, but let’s look to the internet and see who leads the charge online for the NFL. A man so wrapped up with social media that he got fined for tweeting before a game. A man with his own news network, we need Robin, we need Esteban, we need The Ultimate Catch, we need Ochocinco!!

@ogochocinco, if you are out there and see this, then get your agents talking with card companies. We need you to help bring back the sports card market! We also need a better autograph out of you than that Chad Johnson guy used to do…..

The first images and previews came out of Topps Five Star Football this week, and well congrats to whoever Topps signed from Upper Deck design department, because this product looks amazing. This product looks to include some insane patches, and all on card autographs from all the top rookies and other Vets and legends such as Mark Sanchez, Matthew Stafford, Matt Forte, Drew Brees, Art Monk, Howie Long, Junior Seau, Steve Young, Jim Brown, John Elway, Joe Namath, Peyton Manning, Brett Favre, Eli Manning, Adrian Peterson and many others. This should be an Exquisite level set, and from the basic looks we have got from the sell sheet, it definitely has potential to fill that hobby niche. Keep reading to see the images.

Topps Platinum 2009 was originally slated to be Topps answer to SP Authentic, but then the NFL took away the license from Topps and Platinum failed to deliver on it’s hype. Topps to return to NFL?

This link came to my attention yesterday and has created quite a stir. Topps is actively looking for a new project manager to hire. Why would Topps need another project manager unless they were undertaking another sport?

The biggest rumor, and what we may hear more about in the upcoming days is that Topps will be back in the NFL game soon. With Upper Deck losing their NFL deal, it’s either someone steps up to fill the void, or Panini has the exclusive. The NFL did not seem to one a sport card monopoly originally, or they would have given Panini it when they resigned with Upper Deck originially. This story should be developing shorty, and could be big news in the Sports Card industry.
