Strasburg to the DL, How Much Impact on Future Products?

August 24, 2010 · Filed Under Baseball, Bowman, NEWS, Razor, Topps, Upper Deck · Comment

On the day that news broke that Stephen Strasburg Allen & Ginter autographedcards had gone live on Ebay, we also got the news that the Nationals Phenom was going on the DL for the second time in a month. The Baseball card industy has been booming over the last year due to the success of Strasburg. 2010 Bowman exploded on the secondary market with the inclusion of a chrome Strasburg, and an autographed base card of him. We have seen huge bumps in the prices of Topps Triple Threads, Topps Chrome, and Allen and Ginter due to the inclusion of the former #1 pick in the product. Read more

Two New Episodes Posted

February 27, 2009 · Filed Under Baseball, Bowman, NEWS, Podcast, Razor · Comment

We recorded two new episodes of The Card Podcast over the last few days. In episode 22, we are joined by Steven Judd from TheSportsCardFile.com. This was a lot of fun talking to Steven, who has worked on the inside of the card industry from Topps, Donruss, Upper Deck to Beckett.

The next night we recorded episode 23 with Craig Calcaterra of HardBalltimes.com. Craig has written the popular Shyster Ball blog on the HardBall Times site, and we didn’t talk about sports cards as much as we discussed the game of Baseball.

Both episodes were extremely fun to record and I had as much fun talking with them as I have anyone. Check out both of their sites. They are both at the top of the game in the subject matter that they cover.

The first ever letterman autographed cards of Pete Rose will be inserted in to 2008 Razor Letterman. This along with the exclusives and upcoming surprise autographs should make this a highly desired set for player collectors, and letterman collectors.

Razor Exclusivity called to question?

January 3, 2009 · Filed Under Baseball, Donruss, Prospect News, Razor · Comment

Wade Miley is in Prime Cuts 2008, he is also exclusive to Razor for all cards and autographs. After a day of people debating back and forth about this with no comment from Brian Gray, he has commented. It is the kind of comment that means that there probably will not be more comments forthcoming.

One interesting note about these cards is that only the /25 and /1 variations have surfaced thus far.

Here is an entire post from Brian on the matter.

#1- Razor absolutely has an ironclad contract with Wade Miley that 100% enjoins Donruss from this usage.

#2- Wade Miley also might have entered into a contract with Donruss VIOLATING his agreement. If so, both Miley (for breach of contract) and Donruss (for tortuous interference) will be sued and we will stop at nothing to be as punitive as possible as to the damages that are sought.

#3- Donruss originally had Matt Wieters in EEE 2008, but on our learning of this they pulled him at the last second as they acknowledged the validity of our ironclad agreements.

As a side note, I am growing very tired of hearing posters spread conspiracy theories. For example,

Quoting Jeff N., “Now I know why he wouldnt let me see the contract”…… My response to this, I have signed confidentiality agreements with every player and showing you this agreement would be a material breach… Unlike others in the business, I do not breach contracts….

For once and all, Our contracts are rock solid…

Feel free to PM any questions… BG

Thanks to Dchurg from Freedom Card Board for pointing this out. You can discuss it here.
