SP Signature and Game Used NBA Images
I got in a box of 2009 SP Signature and 2 packs of SP Game Used Basketball from Upper Deck this week. These sets may be considered by some a sticker and game used dumping grounds for Upper Deck, but I got a few cool cards and even hit my first ever Michael Jordan game jersey card.

Upcoming Panini Basketball Preview Images
Phil Mason has been doing a great job updating his blog with images that have been released of the newest Panini Products including Leaf Limited Basketball and Contenders NBA. We wanted to share these images with our readers as well, and we will have Scott Prusha from Panini on The Card Podcast this afternoon to talk about all their upcoming NBA and NFL releases.
Contenders 2009 Preview images
Panini has been doing a great job sharing on their Facebook page images of upcoming products. They have released some images of 2009 Contenders Football. The big surprise to these images is they are a throwback to the old days of Playoff Contenders and are on card autographs! We should have Scott Prusha from Panini on tomorrow on the next episode of The Card Podcast.
Sterling adds value to 2009 Baseball
Topps sent out a press release updating the status of 2009 Sterling Baseball. They are adding an additonal hit to each pack, and gone are the days of just one player being in a pack, they are unveiling themes.
Upper Deck releases SP Threads Football
We got a press release from Upper Deck today about their newest SP Football release. They completely retooled this product and included favorite inserts such as the All Pro Di-Cuts from the 90’s. Read more
Upper Deck addresses SP’s in recent products
Upper Deck sent out a message today to address some questions on some new cards that were released in SP Authentic Baseball. When Mark Buehrle threw his perfect game on July 23 this year, Upper Deck owner Richard McWilliam said he wanted to do a card to commemorate that. The UD Baseball team quickly scampered to see what we could do to get it done and into a product this season. They also captured a card of the first pitch between Obama and Pujols at the All-Star Game in St. Louis. These two cards were inserted in very limited quantities into 2009 MLB Ballpark Collection.
As we saw Jeter climbing up the All-Time Yankee Hit List, we felt it would be important to chronicle that as well so another card was produced quickly and inserted in very limited quantities in 2009 MLB SP Authentic which released this week. They sent an image of the front and back of the Jeter card that commemorates him surpassing Lou Gehrig as the all-time Yankee Hit King.
Should something unique happen this postseason, Upper Deck may release more of these cards inserted in 2009 Ultimate Collection Baseball releasing later on this year. Below is a checklist of these cards:
SP1 – Mark Buehrle’s Perfect Game’
SP2 – 1st Pitch at All-Star Game between Obama and Pujols
SP3 – Derek Jeter – Yankees All-Time Hit King

Panini has added more to their Facebook page about Certified autographs of Brett Farve in 2009 Leaf Certified. We wanted to share their press release with you, and one of them has already hit EBay. Hopefully the people who put the stickers on for Panini can do a better job than on my David Ortiz Mirror Black with the upside down autograph!

2009 Panini Basketball Preview
In just a few weeks the base product of Panini Basketball releases. This should be a great product for a team collector. Everyone in the NBA should be featured in this product from what I heard at the National. It should be the most expansive checklist of any of the Panini sets and includes highlights such as the “Next Day” authentic ON CARD signed rookies of the top players from last years NBA Draft.

2009 Leaf Certified Preview Images
Panini posted some images of 2009 Leaf Certified to their Facebook page today. Today is launch day of 2009 Leaf Certified Football. This is the only Football product I normally collect per year. I am not sure how much of a fan I am of it this year since it looks a lot like last year, which wasn’t my favorite version of the product. My favorite would be the 1996 Certified Product, then 2007 and 2005 in that order. Here are some images as well as the preview from Panini on the product.
More Aflac Autos added to BCDP
On the heels of announcing 9 different Autographed AFLAC High School All-American cards including # 3 Draft Pick Donovan Tate would be in the upcoming 2009 Bowman Draft Picks & Prospects Baseball release, Topps has added 4 more names to the list.
Also, Topps announces it has enhanced the prospect checklist with some new top additions.
