The Card Podcast sponsors Cape League Team
I haven’t been updating as much as we would like lately, but I have been busy with quite a few things on our plate. I have been in charge of archiving memorabilia, and conducting signings with the teams players, and if any are around, Alumni. I’ve been able to catch some of the most pure baseball in the nation this summer, and sat down with some great players. I figured I would start to try to share a little more of my experiences. Hope people enjoy.
I have been putting aside all of the different memorabilia for the team, such as broken bats, cards that the players previously had and really anything else I can squirrel away. You can see from the pictures above, that were taken by myself and team photographer Tim Schorer, some of the images that were captured either of the team or stuff that has been signed. I have the bat from the Jason Esposito photo, and we sat down with Evan Danielli and Hunter Morris so far to get their cards signed. Hunter will be signing some more cards soon as well as Cecil Tanner who was on Team USA last year.
The proceeds from these sales will go to the Falmouth Commodores. We are also going to some lengths to document all cards for authenticity, and hopefully all things will be able to be registered and will not lead to any counterfeiting. We had the AFLAC cards signed in black by Hunter and Evan so they can not be confused with the Topps signed ones which were sharpies in blue. Also, we are using Bic Mark It thick markers and Staedler Lumocolor for the fine point autographs. We would these sign the best overall on the cards. It was funny Hunter actually commented on the fact that sometimes when he signs USA cards at Auburn the ink will almost be gone by the time he finishes signing.
But we will be updating more on this as the season goes, hope you find this interesting, and it’s just another aspect to card collecting and this site that we are adding.
